COMPANY OVERVIEW
A multi-functional sogo shosha, or group investment & trading company, actively engaged in global business, was formed in 2004 through the business integration of two companies with over a century of history. The company specializes in the machinery field and has a subsidiary in Europe that deals with both import and export business as well as domestic business within Europe. The European headquarters is located in Düsseldorf, with branches in Milano, Paris, and Vienna.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare, maintain, and audit the monthly management accounts on the in-house accounting system.
- Travel expense accounting.
- Prepare monthly VAT declarations.
- Handle payment transactions (e.g., daily outgoing payments through “Multicash”).
- Communicate with banks for the execution of forward currency contracts, loan applications, issuance of bank guarantees.
- Perform periodic tasks such as stock valuation and gross/net revenue recognition associated with the quarterly consolidated financial reports.
- Conduct and interpret variance analysis on a monthly basis and discuss results with the accounting manager.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing within prescribed deadlines.
- Use Excel to check monthly accounting data.
- File all related monthly accounting data and supporting documentation.
- Assist staff within the company with the preparation of accounting data.
- Assist with internal and external audit processes.
- Participate in various meetings with other members of the European accounts team.
- Demonstrate full professional skills and knowledge and act as a trusted advisor on particular topics.
- Use analytical skills to develop solutions to non-routine problems.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Management accounting and/or financial accounting experience for at least 5 years.
- Experience dealing with EU VAT returns, including EC sales list and Intrastat.
- Qualified by apprenticeship and job experience in the accounting department, ideally in an international company.
- Business-level English and German language skills.
- Ability to deal with external advisers, including auditors.
- Strong administration and computer (ERP system, Excel) skills.
