A Japanese research-driven pharmaceutical company seeks a Finance Manager in Düsseldorf. They are dedicated to developing innovative solutions that create hope for all facing illness and their German entity plays a critical role in driving our business across Europe. You will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with both local and international regulations, and supporting the company’s strategic growth in the European market.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting Management: Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting.
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Tax Compliance: Manage the preparation and submission of VAT and corporate tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
Financial Project Management: Lead and manage domestic/international financial projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives. Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Process Optimization: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. Streamline financial processes and systems to support the company's growth.
Internal Control: Develop and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Conduct regular reviews and assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
Year-End Audit Partner: Serve as the main point of contact for the year-end audit process. Coordinate with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit, providing all necessary documentation and support.
Business Partnering: Act as a strategic advisor to business leaders on financial matters. Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to support business growth and profitability. Provide insights to support strategic decision-making, including investment appraisals and business case evaluations.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage the annual budget, including forecasting future financial performance and identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and accounting standards, ensuring the company remains compliant with all regulatory requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, with a focus on internal reporting, financial project management, and process optimization.
Strong knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations.
Proven experience in developing and implementing internal controls and managing year-end audits.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively partner with business leaders.
Experience in working pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
Fluent in German and English language.
Proficiency in financial software and systems (e.g., ERP, Excel, financial reporting tools).
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly growing business environment.
